InsurAcademy’s high-quality and comprehensive curriculum covers a span of six weeks and features both live virtual and on-demand virtual training, enabling you to pursue your new career while still maintaining some flexibility to accommodate your current work/life demands. Plus, because all of the training is done online through a state-of-the-art virtual platform, you can attend InsurAcademy from anywhere!

After graduation, you will be guaranteed a job interview with an independent insurance agency in South Carolina. All InsurAcademy graduates have access to an exclusive job board featuring agencies that are actively hiring for CSRs

And did we mention that InsurAcademy training is FREE? Thanks to scholarship opportunities, the $1,500 tuition fee is covered for all students that successfully complete the program. (Scholarships only available to candidates who are NOT currently employed by a SC independent insurance agency. Current IIABSC member agency employees pay a reduced tuition fee of $1,350.)

The only expenses incurred by scholarship students will be:
* $45 for course materials
* SC licensing fee which is currently $25
* Fingerprint fee of $51
* Exam fee of $59 (SC Property, Casualty, Surety & Marine Insurance Producer - InsSC-PCSM04).

However, upon successfully passing the licensing exam, InsurAcademy will reimburse students the exam fee, fingerprinting fee and licensing fee. The course materials will be reimbursed once the student takes the licensing exam.

What is the application/selection process?

We are now accepting applications for the InsurAcademy program that begins April 8th, 2024. Students applying for InsurAcademy must be able to meet the requirements outlined below. Prospective students will complete the online application here and are required to take a verbal and math assessment as part of the application process. Application and assessment results will be used to select the final InsurAcademy candidates that best meet the criteria and profile identified for a successful CSR*.

What are the requirements to attend?

You must be a SC resident to qualify for this training.
Be able to pass a criminal background check.
Have a reliable computer with video capability and Internet access
Able to commit a minimum of four hours/day M-F for a combination of on-demand and scheduled learning sessions (held between the hours of 8:30 am – 12:30 pm). You will also need to dedicate additional time to study the materials covered during the sessions.
InsurAcademy dates and training times:
- Phase 1: Pre-Licensing - April 8 - 19, 2024 M-F 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
- Licensing - April 22-May 10, 2024 (No scheduled classes during this time. Students prepare for and take state licensing exam)
- Phase 2 - Agency Training - May 13 - 24, 2024 M-F 8:30 am 0 12:30 pm
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Meet the SC Property & Casualty Licensing Requirements: Applicant must be 18 years old or older as determined from the applicant's Date of Birth; Complete an insurance licensure application to the SC Department of Insurance following the process outlined in the SC Insurance Candidate Licensing Guide and submit fingerprints for a criminal history background check; The SC DOI must receive and review the application, the criminal history background record, and supporting documentation from any background or screening questions with a yes response for licensure decision.

How much does it cost?

Tuition is valued at $1,500 but thanks to scholarship opportunities from the IIABSC Foundation, qualified students accepted into InsurAcademy through our application process attend FOR FREE. (Scholarships only available to candidates who are NOT currently employed by a SC independent insurance agency. Current IIABSC agency member employees pay a reduced tuition fee of $1,350.)

The only expenses incurred by students will be the cost of the course materials ($45), South Carolina licensing application, fingerprint, and exam fees. Currently, SC licensing fees are $25, fingerprint fee is $50, and the exam fee is $59 for each attempt of the exam required (SC Property, Casualty, Surety and Marine Insurance Producer – INSSC-PCSM04). However, upon successfully passing the exam, InsurAcademy will reimburse students for the exam fee, fingerprinting fee and licensing fee. Students will be reimbursed for the cost of the course materials once they take the exam.
